This house was designed for a couple with a grown family.

The clients liked bungalows and craftsman-style homes built in the early part of the century, and the site is located in an older, established part of Kirkland. The design challenge was to mass this large house to reduce its overall bulk to fit into the neighborhood: The house is just under 5,000 square feet, including the shop, garage and covered decks.

The house was Seattle Times/AIA home of the month.
