This was Metropolitan Home Magazine's Home of the Year. It is located on a sloping 6,000 square foot site adjacent to a heavily wooded "urban wilderness" park.
Poor soils and a spectacular view dictated a multi-story building with a small footprint. Large glass areas allow for plenty of natural light and unimpeded views of the lake. The height of the structure invokes the feeling of being up in the air in a tree house.
Even with all the glass, the house is very energy efficient and costs only $200-$300 per year to heat.
